The focus of the GPNC is to improve the education of nurses who care for elders suffering from depression, dementia, and other mental health disorders. The collaborative effort enhances extant competencies for all levels of nursing education, focusing on older adults with mental health/illness concerns. Shared in the Appendix are the competency statements developed for basic, graduate, post-graduate, and continuing education nursing programs.
